Following a turnover on the first offensive possession, the Texas Longhorns capitalized on the second when freshman quarterback Shane Buechele threw another perfect touch pass, this time to sophomore quarterback-turned-wide-receiver Jerrod Heard for a 29-yard connection:

The play, which gave the ‘Horns a 7-0 lead over the Miners in the middle of the first quarter, came on Heard’s birthday and was his first touchdown catch at his new position.
Last week, Heard was tackled at the 1-yard line against Notre Dame, rendering him unable to use his planned touchdown dance. On Saturday, he finally had a chance, but fans watching at home on Longhorn Network weren’t able to see it, as the camera panned away following the score.
