Texas QB Shane Buechele earns second Big 12 Newcomer of the Week honor

For the second time in as many weeks, Texas Longhorns true freshman quarterback Shane Buechele has been named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week following his impressive performance against UTEP.

In Texas’ 41-7 victory over the Miners, Buechele completed 22-27 passes — a remarkable 81.5 percent — and tossed for four touchdowns, as well. Buechele also added 34 yards on the ground to his 244 through the air.

And the stats available fall well short of how impressive Buechele continued to be against the Miners, looking much like a seasoned veteran and often making the perfect plays in many situations.
