A year after finishing 5-7 and missing the postseason, ESPN projects the Texas Longhorns to face off against the UCLA Bruins in the Alamo Bowl this season following the loss to the California Golden Bears.
The trip to San Antonio would be the third in the last four years, as the ‘Horns played in the Alamo Bowl following the 2012 and 2013 seasons. The 2012 contest went a little bit better than former head coach Mack Brown’s final game, as Texas was able to beat Oregon State before getting blown out by Oregon in 2013.
The question right now is whether an appearance in the Alamo Bowl would be considered a success for the 2016 football team — the bowl does receive the first pick following the College Football Playoff and affiliated contracted bowls.
