Over the last several years, Texas Longhorns defensive coordinator Vance Bedford has been outspoken about the lack of ideal fan support in the downward-trending program, but after a record-setting sellout crowd helped will the ‘Horns to a double-overtime victory against the No. 10-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Sunday, he paid due credit to the burnt orange faithful:
We have the greatest fans in the world. Thank you for your support. It was unbelievable. The noise was deafening This win was for you— Vance Bedford (@CoachBedfordUT) September 5, 2016
While there was a reasonably significant contingent on hand supporting the Irish, the crowd showed up early, was loud, wore orange, and stayed late to savor the program’s biggest victory this decade. Now that’s how to do.
