Despite previous reports that four-star inside linebacker Anthony Hines would be taking an official visit to Texas this weekend when the Longhorns host UTEP, it appears that won’t be the case at the moment, per Scout.com.
"Not going to the official visit (at) Texas this weekend," Hines’ father told Scout. "It was a miscommunication."
The elite Plano East product is arguably Texas’ No. 1 priority at the moment and considering the Longhorns won’t be playing at home for the three weeks following the UTEP game and Hines has a November 29 decision date set, it will become increasingly important to get Hines on campus at some point in October or November.
Hines came off of an official visit to Texas A&M this weekend for the Aggies overtime win over UCLA, though it’s unclear if his visit to College Station had anything to do with deciding to change his plans of visiting Texas. The Aggies and Oklahoma are considered the two biggest threats to Texas in Hines’ recruitment.
