In an announcement on Twitter, former Baylor Bears assistant director of football operations Casey Horny revealed his addition to the growing personnel staff of new Texas Longhorns head coach Tom Herman:

That’s Horny second from left, with defensive line coach Oscar Giles (far left) and Herman (far right). All three were graduate assistants under Mack Brown.
He’s already listed in the staff directory.
A Texas alum who received a master’s degree from the school during his three seasons as a graduate assistant, Horny worked with the defensive backs throughout that stretch.
Then he spent two seasons as the cornerbacks coach at Sam Houston State with Herman before coaching defensive backs at Trinity University. Horny’s most prominent coaching role in college football was a the co-defensive coordinator at Texas State in 2007.
For the previous nine years, Horny worked at Baylor as a defensive quality control assistant, which raises some concerns since Horny, at the least, went along with the rest of the coaching staff in releasing a joint statement about Art Briles:

Whether or not Horny played any role in the massive sexual assault scandal is impossible to know, but it’s disappointing that he associated himself with the attempted exoneration of Briles.
Should Horny’s time at Baylor and participation in the Briles Truther movement on the coaching staff there disqualify him from employment by Texas football?
That’s a subjective question that Herman answered to the negative having worked with Horny previously for several seasons.
And so Horny is now one of five quality control coaches for the Longhorns, along with Michael Huff, Kenny Guiton, and Trey Haverty. Andrew Sowder is also listed in the staff directory, but as of last week he was expected to be named the offensive coordinator at San Jose State.
Guiton is a former Ohio State quarterback who served as a graduate assistant under Herman at Houston, while Haverty is a former Texas Tech wide receiver who last held the title of defensive coordinator at Lamar University.
