As the Texas Longhorns trend in the 247Sports Crystal Ball projections for Dodge City CC linebacker Gary Johnson, the nation’s No. 6 junior college prospect announced that he’ll be visiting Austin this weekend:
Texas official visit this weekend

The former Alabama commit previously scheduled his official visit for January 20 in the aftermath of receiving his offer from Texas. Johnson was originally scheduled to visit Oregon this weekend instead and still has a USC trip set for the final weekend before National Signing Day.
Like many other prospects currently targeted by head coach Tom Herman and his staff, Johnson was recruited by defensive coordinator Todd Orlando while at Houston.
As a result of that prior relationship and Johnson’s instant and intense interest in the Longhorns, all 11 Crystal Ball predictions currently favor Texas.
In fact, it wouldn’t be a complete shock if the staff convinces Johnson to commit on the spot in order to facilitate a little bit of recruiting momentum heading into the final stretch leading up to February 1.
Even if that ideal scenario doesn’t come to fruition, the ‘Horns will almost certainly remain in the pole position following Johnson’s visit.
