The Texas Longhorns will no longer host Baton Rouge (La.) Madison Prep defensive end Bryan Jones on an official visit this weekend, according to a report from Jason Suchomel of Orangebloods.
Originally offered by former Texas head coach Charlie Strong, Jones was also pursued by new head coach Tom Herman and his staff, who were seeking to reunite Jones with his former high school teammate, sophomore defensive end Malcolm Roach.
However, it appears that the interest from Jones was not high enough for him to visit or the staff decided that the addition of Fort Worth All Saints defensive end Max Cummins last week and positive official visit for Temple defensive end commit Taquon Graham last weekend reduced the need for Jones.
Either way, the cancelation should all but officially eliminate the ‘Horns from contention with Jones, who took an official visit to College Station last week and is likely to sign with the Aggies next Wednesday.
A consensus three-star prospect, Jones is the No. 378 player nationally, the No. 16 strong-side defensive end, and the No. 14 player in Louisiana, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
