Daily Round Up: Don’t Expect Much From OC Tim Beck

Beck is pass-happy and thin-skinned.

Expect big things from Tom Herman, but not Tim Beck. “Tim Beck wasn’t the offensive answer for Ohio State or Nebraska, but he keeps getting high-profile jobs. Reporters describe Texas’ new offensive coordinator as “thin-skinned” and “pass-happy” and devoted to a heavy spread, up-tempo attack. Sounds like he’s not God’s gift to play-callers.” Ouch.

The Buckeyes don’t seem the least bit upset that Beck is leaving for Texas. “Head coach Urban Meyer witnessed the full regression versus Clemson Saturday night. Beck saw it, too, which is probably why his name is linked to Texas — he might need to jump ship.”

It’s recruiting time and the Daily Disappointment lists Texas offensive and defensive needs.

Will Herman recruit in the state of Ohio?

The men’s basketball team is missing a true point guard. “Any school’s basketball fortunes can turn around with two or three good players, but without a point guard, none of it matters. The special ones launch the coach, the team and fan base into another stratosphere.”

Garrett Gilbert is now on the Oakland Raiders roster.
