Texas ATH target Paulson Adebo decommits from Notre Dame

The Under Armour All-American appears to have a current favorite.

Recruiting for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish continues to crater following Monday’s decommitment from Mansfield athlete Paulson Adebo, according to Irish247.

The 2017 Under Armour All-American was a target of former Texas Longhorns head coach Charlie Strong and his staff before pledging to the Fighting Irish back in June.

Given his talent level, it’s reasonable to speculate that new head coach Tom Herman and his staff will attempt to get the 6’2, 180-pounder on campus prior to National Signing Day.

However, Adebo may already be relatively set on his final destination, according to Irish247:

Stanford is the favorite here. Irish247 is told that he has been offered and was accepted into school. Stanford was the dream school for Adebo, but never had the offer in hand.

As the recruitment of consensus five-star offensive tackle Walker Little indicated, it’s nearly impossible to compete with the Cardinal for prospects who value the education and opportunity provided by Stanford over all other factors.

Because of that reality, 11 projections for head coach David Shaw’s program rolled into Adebo’s 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions in the immediate aftermath of his decommitment.

The consensus four-star prospect is ranked as the No. 195 prospect nationally, the No. 26 cornerback, and the No. 32 player in Texas, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

Texas originally recruited Adebo as a cornerback, but he played wide receiver in the Under Armour game and impressed at the position — he’s fully capable of playing on either side of the ball in college.
