Three Texas players cleared for Kansas game

The ‘Horns will have several key players available this weekend.

On Thursday evening, Texas Longhorns head coach Tom Herman said that freshman quarterback Sam Ehlinger, freshman running back Toneil Carter, and sophomore center Zach Shackelford will all be available on Saturday against the Kansas Jayhawks.

Ehlinger missed the last two games as a result of a concussion and an inner ear issue, while Shackelford and Carter both missed time as a result of concussions. Shackelford missed two games, while Carter only missed one.

The news is a positive development for a Longhorns offense that has suffered from a remarkable number of injuries this season — all three players have started this season. However, Herman also said that sophomore Shane Beuchele will remain the starting quarterback.
