According to reports from Inside Texas and Orangebloods, Texas Longhorns junior defensive tackle Chris Nelson won’t play against the Missouri Tigers in the Texas Bowl due to an injury.
The school confirmed the news on Friday, indicating that Nelson suffered an elbow injury during bowl practice.
The 6’1, 297-pounder saw his playing time decrease late in the season after coordinator Todd Orlando switched to the Lightning package as the base defense, but Nelson did start seven games this season. He recorded 18 tackles, three tackles for loss, and a sack in 11 appearances.
