Texas Longhorns sophomore safety Brandon Jones received evaluation for a head injury after leaving bowl practice on Saturday, but was cleared on Sunday, according to the school.
Jones is now listed as probable for the Texas Bowl on Wednesday.
A sophomore from Nacogdoches who was rated as the nation’s No. 1 safety in the 2016 recruiting class, Jones started 11 games in 2017 and finished with 59 tackles, four tackles for loss, two quarterback hurries, one pass broken up, and one forced fumble.
With junior DeShon Elliott off to the NFL, the ‘Horns are a little bit short on safety depth. If Jones has to miss the Texas Bowl on Wednesday, the starters at the position would likely be juniors PJ Locke III and John Bonney.
