The first Junior Day under new Texas Longhorns head coach Tom Herman produced at least one offer on Saturday, with LSU Tigers offensive line pledge Kardell Thomas picking one up from the staff, according to Horns247.
From Southern University Lab in Baton Rouge, Thomas is a 6’4, 320-pounder who committed to the hometown Bayou Bengals last July, before Thomas even played his sophomore season.
Alabama, Iowa State, and Oklahoma have also offered Thomas, who will likely see his recruitment depressed by his status as an LSU pledge unless he continues to show a great deal of interest in other programs.
The trip from Louisiana into the heart of Texas indicated that Thomas has some interest in the Longhorns, but beating out the Tigers for players from Louisiana is difficult enough. Winning out on a Baton Rouge product is like hitting the hard button inside the hard button.
Adjust expectations accordingly.
