On Thursday, the Texas Longhorns announced that the season-ending contest against the Texas Tech Red Raiders will now happen on Friday, November 24 instead of on Thanksgiving Day.
The kick time and broadcast information will come out later.
Since the demise of the rivalry between the ‘Horns and the Aggies, interest in playing on Thanksgiving Day has decreased as the series switches between the Red Raiders and the Horned Frogs.
In 2016, the TCU game was moved from Thanksgiving Day to Friday. It was the first time that Texas had played the day after Thanksgiving since playing Texas A&M on Friday from 1996 to 2007.
