The ‘Horns will try to extend the current five-game winning streak in Lawrence.

For the first time in the conference season, the Texas Longhorns will leave the friendly confines of UFCU Disch-Falk Field for a road trip to Lawrence to face off against the Kansas Jayhawks.

The first pitch of the three-game series is 6 p.m. on Friday on ESPN3 in Austin and the Jayhawk Television Network elsewhere. The final two games are set to start at 2 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Texas pitching has been hot recently, as last weekend’s visitor, Kansas State, finally ended a streak of 30 shutout innings by the Longhorns during Sunday’s game. Overall, David Pierce’s team has won five straight games.

On Friday, Nolan Kingham will match his 3-2 record and 0.72 ERA against Kansas ace Sean Rackoski, who has struck out 25 batters and walked only eight in his appearances this season. Kingham is coming off a complete-game shutout against the Wildcats last Friday.

At the plate, junior Matt McLaughlin leads the Jayhawks with a .337 average and 12 RBI. For Texas, junior Travis Jones went 10-of-23 with six RBI last week during the five-game winning streak. Meanwhile, sophomore Kody Clemens has finally gotten hot at the plate, hitting two home runs over that stretch, including the game-winner against Kansas State on Sunday.

Morgan Cooper (3-2, 1.63 ERA) and Blair Henley (2-2, 4.30) will close out the series on the mound for the Longhorns.
