Despite a recent sweep by the TCU Horned Frogs, Texas Longhorns baseball is still on track for the postseason, according to D1Baseball.com projections, heading into another key weekend series with the West Virginia Mountaineers, the final regular season match up for both teams.

The website currently slots Texas as the No. 2 seed in the Fayetteville regional with Arkansas, Missouri State, and Bryant. The Razorbacks, currently ranked No. 18 nationally by D1Baseball.com, currently have a record of 37-14 following a 2-1 week.

The regional match up would provide an attractive pairing of former SWC rivals in the ‘Horns and Hogs, assuming that David Pierce’s team could get past the projected match up against Missouri State.

The Bears would present a formidable opponent, as Missouri State sits at No. 15 nationally in the RPI created by D1 Baseball and has an undefeated record in the Missouri Valley Conference.

With little opportunity to host a regional, the Longhorns may have to settle for playing its way into a No. 2 seed against a weaker opponent. A couple wins this weekend and in the Big 12 tournament would be extremely beneficial towards that end.
