On Monday, the Saskatchewan Roughriders announced that former Texas Longhorns quarterback Vince Young, who is attempting a comeback with the CFL squad, tore his hamstring on June 6 and will miss 4-6 weeks.
The injury represents a significant setback for the 34-year-old quarterback, who has failed to appear in a regular-season game since 2011 despite opportunities with the Buffalo Bills and Green Bay Packers.
Young’s last opportunity in the NFL came with the Packers in 2013. Since then, he’s been working as an analyst for the Longhorn Network and at Texas in the Division of Diversity and Community Engagement.
In addition to longtime CFL mainstay Kevin Glenn, Young was competing with former North Carolina quarterback Marquise Williams for a spot on the Saskatchewan roster, but the injury could effectively end that opportunity.
