Texas Longhorns center fielder Zane Gurwitz will have a shot at a professional baseball career after the Los Angeles Angels selected the 5’7, 185-pounder in the 26th round with the 775th pick of the 2017 MLB Draft on Wednesday.

A hamstring injury suffered before the season limited Gurwitz to 40 games during his final season on the Forty Acres, but he still managed to hit .305, a career high, in addition to three home runs and 14 RBIs.

Like many of the other Texas position players taken in the draft, Gurwitz is considered a plus center fielder defensively.
