While on an unofficial visit in Austin, key Texas Longhorns wide receiver target Brennan Eagles set his decision date on Friday:
Official commitment date: July 17 ‼️— Brennan Eagles¹² (@_BrennanEagles_) June 17, 2017
Coincidentally — or perhaps not — fellow Houston-area Longhorns wide receiver target Al’vonte Woodard announced on Thursday that he will make his respective decision on July 15.
Eagles holds nearly 30 offers from around the country and is considered one of the elite wide receivers nationally, as well as one of the top prospects overall — the 247Sports Composite ranks him as the No. 23 recruit, the No. 4 wide receiver, and the No. 3 player in Texas.
As a consensus five-star prospect, it’s not surprising that Eagles is the top target for head coach Tom Herman and Texas. With all 14 Crystal Ball predictions in favor of the ‘Horns and the seemingly fortuitous timing of his announcement while on the Forty Acres, the odds seem high that the wide receiver class will start coming together in a significant way a month from now.
And if Eagles and Woodard commit over the course of three days, that will provide another huge momentum boost for Texas similar to the stretch in April, but one that could potentially have a bigger impact in the critical Houston area.
