Key Texas TE target Dominick Anderson sets commitment date

New, comments

The nation’s top junior college tight end visited Austin for the “Texas Heat Wave” event over the weekend.

Dominick on his Texas visit

As the Texas Longhorns finish preparations for preseason camp, the coaches will learn the collegiate destination for Arizona Western College tight end Dominick Anderson, who set his decision date for August 1st on Monday:

The 6’5, 245-pounder took advantage of new NCAA rules allowing for official visits during the summer when he tripped to Austin for the massive “Texas Heat Wave” recruiting event put on by head coach Tom Herman and his staff over the weekend:

Anderson also spent some quality time on the lake with freshman quarterback Sam Ehlinger and quarterback pledge Cameron Rising, the California native who flipped from Oklahoma in April:

In July, Alabama will receive an official visit from Anderson that could be key to his recruitment, which somewhat mutes any excitement about the nation’s No. 7 junior college prospect setting his decision date directly after leaving Texas.

Oregon also made a big push in early May for Anderson and may be the current favorite. However, the Longhorns do have the ability to sell plentiful early playing time to Anderson, who might weigh such a factor more heavily because of his limited eligibility coming out of junior college.
