There’s now further evidence that the Texas Longhorns will receive good news from Houston Lamar wide receiver Al’vonte Woodard on July 15 — on Wednesday at The Opening, the talented prospect told Luke Stampini of 247Sports that he will visit Austin on July 21.
Two weeks ago, the 6’1, 193-pounder set his decision date before traveling to Texas for the “Heat Wave” party, so Woodard’s planned trip supports the conventional wisdom that the Longhorns are in an excellent position to land his services.
Based on a top five list released by Woodard in late May and his commitment date announcement, the Lamar product is also considering LSU, Ohio State, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M.
However, the ‘Horns are the overwhelming favorite, currently holding all 13 predictions in the 247Sports Crystal Ball. Last fall, the Aggies were thought to be in a strong position, but that changed this spring, and momentum has entirely favored head coach Tom Herman’s program since then.
A consensus four-star prospect, Woodard is ranked as the No. 74 prospect nationally, the No. 14 wide receiver, and the No. 10 player in Texas, according the 247Sports Composite rankings.
