In the most significant news so far from The Opening regarding Texas Longhorns recruiting, top wide receiver target Brennan Eagles revealed on Friday that he won’t announce his commitment on July 17 as previously planned.
Official commitment date canceled due to technical difficulties.

Reading between the lines here, the most likely reason is that something happened and he hasn’t been able to get his commitment video produced as planned — it’s increasingly common for prospects to skip a commitment ceremony and announce with a pre-produced video.
It’s not yet clear when the 6’3.5, 214-pounder will make his decision known to the public, but it seems reasonable to guess that it still happens at some point before Eagles begins his senior season.
So while the delay means that Texas won’t land both Eagles and Houston Lamar product Al’vonte Woodard in mid-July, the “technical difficulties” don’t seem to have anything to do with here the ‘Horns stand with Eagles, who is a consensus five-star prospect.
Patience, Longhorns fans.
