2019 No. 1 C Branson Bragg names Texas his leader

A Friday visit for the “Stars at Night” event was “unbelievable.”

Former Texas Longhorns head coach Charlie Strong would be proud — 2019 Crandall center Branson Bragg used Strong’s favorite superlative while on campus last week:

In the immediate aftermath, Bragg confirmed with HookEm365.com that the ‘Horns are now the leader in his recruitment.

On his Twitter page, @bransonbragg72, the Crandall product still has the tweet about his June 19 offer from head coach Tom Herman and staff pinned at the top of his page.

Coincidence?

Probably not.

Bragg is quickly emerging as the center target for position coach Derek Warehime in the 2019 cycle, as the ‘Horns haven’t offered any other centers in that class and currently seem unlikely to land any prospects at that position in the current cycle.

Among the 2017 signees, Derek Kerstetter could play center in college after spending time there at the US Army All-American game, so there is a long-term option on campus right now, but Warehime clearly wants to add another in 2019.

So even though the 2019 recruiting process is still in a relatively early stage, Bragg is an important recruit for the class as a whole.

With all five 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions currently favoring Texas, including two from last weekend, there’s a good chance that the 6’4, 280-pounder eventually becomes a Longhorn.
