Texas CB target D’shawn Jamison set to decide after Red River Showdown

The ‘Horns are still the favorite.

A decision once tentatively set for August will now happen after the Texas Longhorns face off against the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday in the Red River Showdown, as Houston Lamar cornerback D’shawn Jamison, a key Texas target, is set to announce his decision around 6 p.m. CT:

The ‘Horns are currently one of five schools in contention, with Michigan, Oregon, TCU, and USC also in the mix.

Jamison took a visit to Texas for the Maryland game before visiting Fort Worth for a game a month ago. Ahead of his Saturday decision, all 22 picks in the 247Sports Crystal Ball are in favor of the ‘Horns.

In early June, Jamison released his top five and recently took visits to Austin and Fort Worth — the Longhorns and Horned Frogs have long been considered the top two schools for the Lamar product.

Still, the most likely scenario is that the consensus four-star prospect continues the summer trend of Houston-area prospects committing to Texas and joins his teammate, wide receiver Al’vonte Woodard, in the 2018 Longhorns recruiting class.

If the physical, scrappy potential nickel back does join #RevolUTion18, he will ensure that the balanced group is in contention for the title of most talented defensive back class in school history.

Jamison ranks as the No. 135 player nationally, the No. 18 cornerback, and the No. 15 player in Texas, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
