When the Oregon State Beavers scored the first FBS touchdown of the 2017 season on Saturday afternoon, it officially heralded the return of college football, which means the Texas Longhorns are rapidly nearing the season opener against the Maryland Terrapins.
In fact, it’s now less than a week until the ‘Horns take the field at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium to face off against the Terrapins at 11 a.m. CT on FS1.
While Texas is ranked at No. 23 in the AP Poll, head coach Tom Herman still believes the Longhorns are what last season’s record says they are — a 5-7 football team.
However, the debut of the Herman era gives the team an opportunity to move forward against an opponent that finished 6-7 and lost five of the final six games.
Not a bad opportunity, eh? And one that will only require a little more patience to experience.
