• Texas - Sept 22
• Kentucky - Sept 29
• Kansas - Oct 13
• Marquette - Oct 20
After receiving dozens of high major offers, the Woodlands product is now deciding between Texas, Kentucky, Kansas, and Marquette.
The Jayhawks are seen as the team to beat in Grimes' recruitment, as all seven of his Crystal Ball projections favor Bill Self's squad.
Grimes is ranked as the No. 17 overall player, No. 4 point guard, and No. 1 overall player in Texas in the 247Sports Composite class of 2018 rankings.
"Coach Smart has really stressed how me and Matt Coleman could complement each other perfectly," Grimes told Scout in an article published on Wednesday. "Matt’s more of a passing point guard and I’m more of a scoring guard and he’d be able to look for me and we’d be able to play really well in that offense."
At 6'4, 175 pounds, Grimes would offer a dimension of size that the 6'2, 180 pound Coleman does not have.
Grimes also stated that he knows many of the Texas' current players. Current 'Horns Jacob Young, Royce Hamm, and Jase Febres all hail from Grimes' hometown of Houston.
At College Park High School, Grimes averaged 18.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, four assists, and 1.5 steals per game in the 2016-2017 season.
