Texas offers 3-star DE Caleb Okechukwu

The D.C. product was on campus over the weekend.

During an official visit to Austin, Washington (D.C.) St. John’s College defensive end Caleb Okechukwu picked up an offer from the Texas Longhorns coaching staff:

The late invite to the 2018 Under Armour All-American game surfaced on the Texas radar at the event and quickly scheduled a visit. Okechukwu is set to visit Tennessee next weekend and could also visit Arkansas, though Courtre Aleander’s Sunday commitment could impact his Okechukwu’s recruitment by the Razorbacks.

Since head coach Tom Herman is adamant in public that the staff won’t extend offers unless they’re committable, Okechukwu currently has a spot in the class.

There’s no immediate post-visit movement in Okechukwu’s 247Sports Crystal Ball, but the Longhorns should be in excellent position with the rising prospect. He’s now in the mix with recruits like Joseph Ossai, Mike Williams, and Moro Ojomo for the last several slots in the Texas defensive line class.

A few days ago, it seemed questionable whether the Longhorns could fill all the available openings for defensive linemen in the 2018 recruiting class. Things have changed quickly with the addition of Daniel Carson on Friday and the surges with Ossai, Williams, Okechukwu, and perhaps even Ojomo, pending his visit next weekend.
