After leaving the field of play with an apparent hand injury in the first quarter against the Baylor Bears, Texas Longhorns quarterback Sam Ehlinger went to the locker rom with the training staff for more examination.

On the field, his hand looked to be bloodied after a running play, and officials called a time out for Ehlinger to seek treatment. He was taken to the sideline medical tent, then to the locker room shortly after.

There is no official word regarding what Ehlinger is requiring treatment for, but it looked like the trainer mouthed, “We gotta get that stitched up.”

Backup quarterback Shane Buechele came in to finish the drive for Texas, capped off by a field goal from Cameron Dicker.

3:10 p.m. update: Ehlinger came back onto the field with a patch on his right hand and another patch on his shoulder. The sophomore quarterback was also letting his right arm hang by his side, indicating a possible shoulder injury, as he put on a head set.

3:25 p.m. update: According to the school, Ehlinger did suffer a shoulder injury and will receive further evaluation at halftime.

4:38 p.m. update: Coming out of halftime, Ehlinger was ruled out for the remainder of the game due to his shoulder injury.
