Having played at both schools, graduate transfer G Danni Williams has the perfect take on the Texas-Texas A&M rivalry

“I feel like they’ve kind of moved on, and A&M is still a little… mad, I guess you could say.”

U mad?

The common refrain on social media took on a little added significance on Wednesday evening following the Texas Tip-Off when graduate transfer senior guard Danni Williams was asked about the rivalry between the Texas Longhorns and the Texas A&M Aggies.

Williams certainly has a unique perspective on it — she’s a native of New Mexico who didn’t grow up with a strong opinion on the rivalry, but she was a three-year starter for the Aggies until signing with the Longhorns this spring to play her final season in burnt orange.

“I feel like people at A&M, they just hate Texas so much,” Williams said. “But Texas people, I haven’t heard people talk about A&M. I feel like they’ve kind of moved on, and A&M is still a little… mad, I guess you could say.”

After spending time in College Station, Williams discovered that Austin isn’t as bad as Aggies try to make it sound. The two places are different, she said, and she’s not exactly a fan of the traffic in the state capital, but she thinks it’s a good place and she’s thankful to be in Austin.

Like Texas, she moved on.
