When the Iowa State Cyclones come to Austin next weekend, riding a five-game winning streak, Matt Campbell’s team will be without star junior running back David Montgomery for the first half against the Texas Longhorns, as reported by ESPN’s Jake Trotter.

Montgomery was involved in a brawl that broke out on Saturday in Ames against the Baylor Bears — when Montgomery was hit in the helmet by Baylor’s Greg Roberts, he retaliated by throwing a punch of his own and was ejected for fighting.

Mongtomery ranks second in the conference in yards per game rushing.
The 5’11, 219-pounder entered the Baylor game with 158 carries for 712 yards and six touchdowns. So while his 4.51 yards per carry average isn’t sensational, Montgomery is known for his elite ability to break tackles.
