Texas Longhorns senior linebacker Gary Johnson will miss Saturday’s game against the Kansas Jayhawks due to violating team rules, the Longhorn Network reported during their pregame show.

The suspension hurts the Longhorns’ rush defense, playing against one of the best running backs in the conference, Pooka Williams Jr. Johnson leads the team in tackles (74) and tackles and tackles for loss (14). Johnson has registered 5.5 sacks as well.

Johnson’s suspension means that freshman DeMarvion Overshown may be in line for the first start of his collegiate career.
