Four Texas players named to All-Big 12 First Team

Three players earned second-team honors, while 11 more received honorable mention.

Of the 22 Texas Longhorns starters, 18 received recognition from coaches around the Big 12 Conference on Wednesday when four players were named to the All-Big 12 first team, three players earned second-team honors, and 11 more received honorable mention.

Senior defensive end Charles Omenihu and freshman safety Caden Sterns both made the first team in addition to earning Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year and Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year honors, respectively.

Senior tight end Andrew Beck also made the first team as a fullback, while senior cornerback Kris Boyd was among the defensive backs selected for All-Big 12 recognition.

The honorees on the second team were junior center Zach Shackelford, senior linebacker Gary Johnson, and freshman place kicker Cameron Dicker.

The Longhorns who received honorable mention were sophomore quarterback Sam Ehlinger, junior wide receiver Lil’Jordan Humphrey, senior left tackle Calvin Anderson, senior left guard Patrick Vahe, senior right guard Elijah Rodriguez, redshirt freshman right tackle Sam Cosmi (Offensive Freshman of the Year), senior defensive tackle Chris Nelson, senior defensive end Breckyn Hager, senior defensive back PJ Locke III, junior safety Brandon Jones, senior cornerback Davante Davis, and freshman kicker Cameron Dicker (Special Teams Player of the Year).
