Yet again, Shaka Smart’s recruiting efforts have taken the Texas Longhorns outside of the state lines.
On Thursday, the latest example came in the form of an offer going out to 2021 Minneapolis (Minn.) Minnehaha Academy-upper School center Chet Holmgren, he announced on Twitter.

Currently ranked as a three-star prospect, Holmgren also holds offers from Minnesota, Nevada, Purdue, and Texas A&M. With the Longhorns becoming the latest to jump into the mix, Holmgren now becomes only the seventh 2021 prospect to notch an offer from Smart’s program, and just the second center, joining top-ranked Houston Texas Christian School product Jarrell Colbert.
Standing at 6’11, 190 pounds, Holmgren is ranked as the nation’s No. 53 player, No. 7 center, and as the No. 3 player in Minnesota, per the 247Sports Composite.
