How to watch Texas RB target Noah Cain announce on Wednesday

After the early-morning flurry of faxes to the Moncrief-Neuhaus Athletics Complex, the Texas Longhorns coaches will switch the televisions in the football offices to ESPN2 at 10 a.m. Central to watch with the rest of the country as Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy running back Noah Cain announces his commitment.

The nation’s No. 7 running back will decide between a host of schools, including Texas — Auburn, Georgia, Penn State, and Tennessee have all hosted Cain on official visits this fall, while one-time favorite LSU has fallen out of the race thanks to two pledges from talented Louisiana products.

Burnt Orange Nation has reason to believe that Cain has not made up his mind in the final hours leading up to his decision, placing into question the veracity of numerous 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions in favor of Penn State. Since the 5’10, 212-pounder has gone silent even with those in his inner circle, the optimism surrounding the Nittany Lions is surely coming from the coaching staff in Happy Valley.

Georgia also had some late momentum after Cain visited Athens in late November, but in the end, it simply makes sense for the former Denton Guyer standout to return to Texas. The opportunity to do that and receive tutelage from one of the best running back coaches in the business — Stan Drayton — makes sense for Cain, too.

The stakes are certainly high for Drayton and the Longhorns staff, as missing on Cain would be a major blow to the class. IMG teammate Trey Sanders isn’t likely to pick the Horns, junior college target Rhamondre Stevenson has already signed his National Letter of Intent with the Sooners, and Florida target DJ Williams never took an official visit to Austin.

If Cain doesn’t pick Texas, then, the staff will almost certainly be left scrambling to find another running back to pair with Georgia product Derrian Brown in the 2019 recruiting class.

So it could be a tense scene at Moncrief tomorrow morning if Cain hasn’t informed the Texas staff about his intentions before making them public, a situation that would echo Manor defensive end Erick Fowler’s commitment nearly three years ago.
