One of the premier defensive backs in the state has earned an offer from the Texas Longhorns — 2020 Mansfield Timberview cornerback Jalen Kimber made it public late Friday night that Tom Herman and company have presented him with the opportunity to potentially be a Longhorn.

Kimber has had numerous of schools show interest in him since the beginning of the 2018 summer, when he notched his first offer from Houston. The three-star standout has now garnered a total of 13 offers from big-time schools like Colorado, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, Penn State, TCU, and Texas A&M.

The rising junior is no stranger to the Forty Acres, as he made a visit to Austin this past summer to camp with the Horns during their ‘Stars at Night’ camp and obviously made a huge impression on cornerbacks coach Jason Washington. Kimber has a long frame that he utilizes quite well in coverage and reacts exceptionally quick to the area of the ball to make game-changing plays.

As of now, the Longhorns hold no commitments on the defensive side of the ball from the 2020 cycle. Kimber is the seventh cornerback from the upcoming cycle to receive an offer from the Horns. Texas has signed only two cornerbacks in this year’s recruiting class in Kenyatta Watson II and Marques Caldwell.

At 6’0, 170 pounds, Kimber is ranked as the nation’s No. 523 prospect, the No. 35 cornerback in the country, and as the No. 68 player in the state for the 2020 class, per the 247Sports Composite rankings.
