Final Thoughts
It was a rough weekend for Texas athletics.
Texas basketball, fresh off its first Top 25 appearance in what felt like a decade, dropped a home game to Radford in an embarrassing performance that immediately knocked them out of the poll.
Any goodwill earned by Shaka Smart after the Vegas Invitational was squandered with the gut-punching loss against the Big South opponent. Shaka & Co. will have an opportunity on Wednesday to alleviate some concern with a home contest against his former school and A-10 powerhouse, VCU.
Shaka doubters will continue to get louder if Texas still struggles to shoot from three. It’s feeling a lot like that UNC win is going to be the outlier. Tough games against VCU and Purdue will give us a good idea of what this team can handle heading into Big 12 play.
Texas football felt like the better team against Oklahoma on Saturday, but penalties (many of them questionable) played a big part in the loss. Not that the game mattered too much, as Texas was destined for the Sugar Bowl regardless of outcome.
