Monday’s visit from Texas Longhorns co-offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Herb Hand to El Cajon helped locked in a trip from Grossmont College offensive tackle Jay Williams to Austin:

The former San Diego State defensive end doesn’t yet hold an offer from the Longhorns, but that seems like a formality at this point, as the staff wouldn’t be interested in expending the energy to host Williams if an offer was seriously in doubt.
The 6’6, 290-pounder plans to sign this month so he can enroll early at the school of his choice and currently holds 16 offers, with Florida State, Indiana, and Louisville ranking as his top schools. The Hoosiers just hosted Williams on an official visit, while the Seminoles are scheduled to do the same on December 14. Since Florida State needs bodies along the offensive line as badly as any major program in the entire country, it could be hard for Williams to pass up that opportunity.
Williams is ranked as a three-star prospect and the No. 8 junior college offensive tackle.
