Texas graduate transfer OT target Tommy Kennedy sets visit schedule

Following a visit from Texas Longhorns co-offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Herb Hand on Thursday, former Butler Bulldogs graduate transfer offensive tackle Tommy Kennedy released his list of three official visits:

The 6’5, 290-pounder hasn’t publicly revealed a Texas offer yet, but that’s likely academic at this point — Hand wouldn’t travel to Indianapolis during a critical recruiting period and line up the official visit if he wasn’t serious about recruiting Kennedy.

It will be at least the second visit to Austin for Kennedy, who took a family trip to the city in high school.

“There’s no school like Texas and Austin is an amazing city, too,” Kennedy told Burnt Orange Nation on Wednesday.

He also explained what he was looking for going into that meeting with Hand.

“I kind of want to get a vibe from him,” Kennedy said. “This is a very short window for me to decide on schools, so I kind of have to talk to him and see how he interacts with me to see if we would be a good fit for each other, culture-wise, too, because that’s really important to me when I’m looking at a school. The culture, him, his team, how he is — everything that really plays into my decision making. I have to have a good relationship with the coach because I’m only going to have a short amount of time together.”

Apparently it went well enough for Kennedy to set up the visit.

Now the Horns will have the first opportunity to make a big impression on Kennedy before he travels to Norman and Coral Gables ahead of a decision planned for the early signing period.
