During a post-National Signing Day appearance on Longhorn Network, Texas Longhorns head coach Tom Herman shared his thoughts on the three offensive signees — Carthage running back Keaontay Ingram, Yoakum wide receiver Joshua Moore, and Houston Cy Woods offensive tackle Christian Jones.
Ingram was the state’s top running back and opted to sign with Texas following an official visit to Texas A&M. However, his longtime commitment to the ‘Horns was never in much jeopardy, as he held off signing during the early period so he could focus on winning a state championship and enjoying National Signing Day with his teammates.
The addition of Moore to a class was more surprising — he was re-offered by the current staff in December after ending his commitment to the Nebraska. Then, a late surge by the Longhorns convinced the versatile athlete to attend his mother’s alma mater.
Even later to surface on the recruiting radar was Jones, who has only played football for two seasons. A former soccer player, the big offensive tackle is now up to nearly 300 pounds and Herman believes that the “sky is the limit” for him.
