4-star WR Tommy Bush in Austin after Baylor official visit

Are the Longhorns still in the mix?

When Schertz Clemens wide receiver Tommy Bush announced on Friday evening that the Baylor Bears would receive his final official visit, it seemed as if the Texas Longhorns were effectively eliminated.

And then, on Sunday afternoon, Bush unexpectedly tweeted out that he’s in Austin:

Presumably, Bush is meeting with the Texas coaching staff on his way back to the San Antonio area, which ESPN’s Gerry Hamilton confirmed. As a result, the Longhorns may still have a shot at landing the top-200 prospect.

During the late summer and into the fall, head coach Tom Herman and his staff fell out of touch with Bush, but re-initiated communication with him in January. Had the Longhorns recruited the 6’5, 191-pounder steadily throughout the process, he might already be a member of the class.

But perhaps it’s not too late.

With less than three days until Bush announces his decision on National Signing Day, there’s no consensus about where he will end up — Baylor had momentum in December, then Ole Miss surged recently. Georgia and Michigan State also received official visits.

So stay tuned on this one.
