The 6’4, 227-pounder received his offer from Texas in January and then named the Longhorns among his top 10 schools last month. Other top schools in the mix for his services are Notre Dame, Oklahoma, and Texas A&M. Nearly 30 programs have extended offers overall.
The official visit for Texas will be critical because those other three schools all hosted Osafo-Mensah at Junior Days recently, but the ‘Horns were not able to get him on campus in February.
In fact, unless the big edge rusher makes it to campus for a spring practice or the Orange-White game, the official visit will be the only chance to make an impression on Osafo-Mensah since extending the offer.
Notre Dame will also host him for an official visit in April and currently holds all 13 predictions in his 247Sports Crystal Ball projections. Osafo-Mensah is currently scheduled to make his commitment on May 19.
A consensus four-star prospect, Osafo-Mensah ranks as the No. 112 player nationally, the No. 7 weak-side defensive end, and the No. 18 player in Texas, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
