The Georgia product is likely headed to an SEC school, but anything can happen once a prospect gets on campus.

One of the nation’s top prospects will be in Austin at the end of April, as the Texas Longhorns are set to host Loganville (Ga.) Grayson linebacker Owen Pappoe from the 27th to the 29th, according to multiple reports and broken by Horns247.

Safety Kenyatta Watson II, a key Longhorns target and fellow Grayson standout, will accompany Pappoe on the trip for his own official visit.

A 6’0, 211-pounder, Pappoe is a coveted national prospect with more than 40 offers from numerous top programs. In late February and early March, Pappoe took unofficial visits to Auburn, Georgia, and Tennessee, the programs considered the front runners for his services.

Pappoe also took a recent official visit to LSU and plans on another to Penn State the weekend before he heads to Austin. Auburn, Florida, and Georgia are also set to host Pappoe on visits.

Auburn, however, appears to be the heavy favorite at this time, as a flurry of 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions have come in for the Tigers in recent days. He plans on making his decision on May 4 or 5, but does not plan on releasing a final list of schools.

So landing Pappeo is a longshot, but Watson has likely been in his ear about Texas. And simply making a favorable impression on an elite prospect from one of the most talent-rich high schools in the country could help the Longhorns down the road, even if Pappoe heads elsewhere, as seems likely.

A consensus five-star prospect, Pappoe is ranked as the No. 7 player nationally, the No. 1 outside linebacker, and the No. 2 player in Georgia, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
