No. 21 Texas Longhorns baseball (24-14) will host UT Rio Grande Valley (18-18) in a midweek game on Tuesday at 7 pm CST at the Disch. The ‘Horns will then head to Sugar Land to face Texas Southern (16-20) at Constellation Field on Wednesday at 6:30 pm CST.

Both games should be very winnable for David Pierce’s team, which has won eight of its last 10. UT Rio-Grande Valley is ranked as the No. 188 team in the nation by Boyd’s World’s Iterative Strength rankings, while Texas Southern sits at No. 247.

Texas is riding high after taking the series against OU in Norman, but the ‘Horns cannot afford a let down week if the team wants to remain in the discussion to host a regional.

In tonight’s game, right-handed sophomore pitcher Tristan Stevens will start and make his Longhorn debut. The former JUCO product underwent Tommy John surgery last year at MCC-Maple Woods after making only five appearances.

The ‘Horns will face righty Jerrod Quartier, who currently has a 6.11 ERA in nine appearances and 17.2 innings this season.

You can catch tonight’s action on the Longhorn Network. Tomorrow’s game will not be televised, but will be available on 104.9 the Horn.
