Texas offers nation’s No. 5 OG William Putnam

One of the most coveted offensive guard prospects in the country is now on the Longhorns’ radar.

One of the nation’s top offensive guard prospects is now on the Texas Longhorns radar, as Tampa (Fla.) Plant product William Putnam announced an offer from the ‘Horns on Thursday.

Ranked as the nation’s No. 5 offensive guard prospect, per the 247Sports Composite, Putnam holds nearly 30 offers, with invitations stemming from powers such as Florida State, Miami, Auburn, Clemson, Georgia,, LSU, Ohio State, Penn State and USC, among numerous others.

With Texas now jumping into the mix, Putnam becomes the only uncommitted offensive guard with a Longhorns offer thus far. Elite Baton Rouge (La.) Southern University Lab product Kardell Thomas is solid to LSU and Allen native EJ Ndoma-Ogar committed to Oklahoma earlier this spring.

Pulling Putnam out of the Sunshine State won’t be an easy task, either. Florida State and Miami are currently considered the frontrunners, with the Seminoles holding three of his four Crystal Ball projections.

At 6-foot-4, 280 pounds, Putnam is ranked as the nation’s No. 97 player and the No. 15 player in Florida.
