After a loss to Kansas, the baseball team will need to beat Oklahoma to avoid an early exit. The game will take place on Thursday morning at 9am.

Will Texas’ 2017 abysmal running game improve this season? “There are now five backs on campus who will compete for the starting job, with Cal grad transfer Tre Watson and freshman Keaontay Ingram joining a trio of returnees. And while questions remain regarding Watson’s health and Ingram’s readiness to play, both could add a dynamic presence to Texas’ previously plodding backfield.”

Before you even ask, A&M is not an iconic brand. AD Del Conte wants to add iconic brands to the football schedule. “There are only about six or seven truly iconic brands.” (He named Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame, USC, Florida and Penn State, but I’d add Clemson, Georgia, LSU, Florida State and Nebraska.) “We want to play an iconic team every year,” he said. “The fans want to see games like that. Those are the games Tom and I are committed to.”

Texas softball coach Connie Clark will resign. Clark has been with the program for 22 years. Cat Osterman feels that playing for Clark might be the best thing that’s ever happened to her, “I think coach Clark always cared about us and the program. I know for a fact she has never been about herself or how many wins she gets or anything like that. She’s a very selfless coach. In my perspective, she’s a player’s coach and I’ve forever been indebted and enjoyed my relationship with her.”

Does esports have a place in college athletics? While Bob Bowlsby doesn’t necessarily believe that esports and traditional sports align, there is one big consideration. “There’s apparently a lot of money to be made,” Bowlsby said.
