For the first time since 2011, your Texas Longhorns are hosting a regional at UFCU Disch-Faulk Field.
The Longhorns (37-20) first test will be the Tigers of Texas Southern (27-26). The two teams met in Sugar Land at Constellation Field where Texas defeated the Tigers 10-2.
The Longhorns will come into the matchup highly favored and will be looking to make a statement in their first game of the 2018 Austin Regional.
David Pierce announced earlier today that Chase Shugart will toe the rubber in game one. This is an ideal game for Shugart to start. I anticipate the Longhorns offense giving Shugart the opportunity to work with a lead early which should allow him to work deep into the game and keep the bullpen rested.
Texas will be led on offense by Big 12 POTY and first team All-American, Kody Clemens.

After an early exit from the Big 12 Tournament in Oklahoma City, Clemens and the Longhorns should be well rested and ready to roll on their home turf.
The Tigers come into the match up winners of 6 of their last 7 and 4 straight in the SWAC tournament which allowed them to play their way into the regional field of 64.
With the double elimination format, the ‘Horns will look to get into the winners bracket with a win Friday night.
Everyone get out and make some noise for your ‘Horns. This is going to be a great ride!
