The 6’4, 299-pounder redshirted during his first season with the Longhorns before opting to transfer last September and also held an offer from Missouri. Now Daniels will have two years of eligibility to compete for the Golden Gophers, starting in 2019 after he plays a season at Copiah-Lincoln CC.
A former consensus four-star prospect, Daniels was a top-30 player in Texas when he committed to the Longhorns in 2016. After his redshirt season, he lost a significant amount of weight during the offseason, but was unable to break into the rotation at the start of the 2017 season.
Minnesota needs immediate help at the defensive tackle position, as head coach PJ Fleck doesn’t have much experience there after several contributors graduated.
