Can Jimbo Fisher reverse tA&M’s trend of being out-coached by Texas? “Can Jimbo reverse that trend and one-up Herman? He’s off to a pretty good start. His 2019 recruiting class is currently ranked second nationally by 247Sports, behind only Alabama. Texas is 17th.”

Tight ends could change the Texas offense. Hudl reported that Tom Herman wants to utilize two tight ends this season. “According to tight ends coach Derek Warehime the reasoning was twofold: Texas now has at least two versatile tight ends in its system, and with advent of three-down fronts in the Big 12, it becomes necessary to get “bigger people” on the field.”

Is there a national championship in Texas’ future? “Logically, Texas has to build up the chemistry on both sides of the ball for that leap to national contention to finally come back through. All things considered, Texas might not win a College Football Playoff National Championship in the next three years. But, the program’s first appearance in the Playoff shouldn’t be too far off with the team currently trending up.”

Malik Jefferson is officially a Bengal.

Hookem Headlines has the five best quarterbacks in the program’s history. No, Chris Simms did not make the list.

Dave Campbell’s Texas Football is out on newsstands.
