On Thursday, the Big 12 released its preseason football poll, with the Texas Longhorns selected to finish fourth. The Oklahoma Sooners were picked to win the conference for a third consecutive year after earning 46 of 52 first-place votes. Oklahoma has won the last three Big 12 titles.

One media member picked the Longhorns to finish first, but head coach Tom Herman’s team ultimately slotted behind West Virginia and TCU, but in front of Oklahoma State, Kansas State, and Iowa State. Texas Tech, Baylor, and Kansas were picked to finish among the bottom three schools in the conference.

Last season, Texas was picked to finish fourth in the conference and ultimately finished in that position thanks to a four-way tie.
